Many thanks for your reply. Had a battery fitted at a repair shop along time ago and after a few months it stopped so took it back same again stopped again( 3 or 4 time)lost interest and forgot about it. Anyway came across it and decided nothing to loose will have a look myself. Anyway the watch repair guy had used tape to hold the battery in place! Basically the issues have is how does the battery stay in place? The movement works fine if I hold the battery in place.

Your problem is the battery's the wrong one.

Yours is a 362 (SR721) which is 7.9mm x 2.1mm but it should be a 315 (SR716) which is 7.9mm x 1.6mm

The 1.6mm means it will clip in place correctly.

Edit

Not sure where in the world you are but by a repair shop do you mean somewhere that cuts keys?

Many thanks the repair shop was a reputable watch specialist allegedly. The battery dimension is engraved in the case as 7.9 -2.1 but I wonder if the movement is not the original? I will get the battery you have advised. Thank you so much.

All the details I've got show it as the 315 but there are photos showing a 362
but these appear to be the 187 not 187-1 so maybe that's the difference.

Are you pushing it in to the left and then down enough so it engages under the lip?

Hi mines the 187-1 and the I have pushed to the left and down, I think it’s too thick so can’t engage under the lip so got to be the 315 battery so will go for that! Cheers.
