Eyup watch people. Another random question lol,  its struck me while sorting through a load of watch bits as to how different these parts are. In the past I've assumed balance staffs and stems are around the 10 - 15,000 mark but thats just a guess based on ronda and dcn catalogs of the 60s having 5,000 staffs and 3,000 stems listed. What about parts like cannon pinions, hour and minute wheels, winding pinions, sliding pinions, ratchet and crown wheels , intermediate wheels, arbors, escape wheels, pallet forks. Are there just as many different sizes of these and are they identifiable at all ?

As @RichardHarris123 said there are unique parts across most calibres so if you multiply the
calibres by the manufacturers you've got to be looking at 100s of thousands of different parts.

I suppose for people that work on the same movements time and time again then
the parts would be identifiable but for the average watch repairer I'd think not.

Unique parts like setting lever springs can be quite easily identified as can staffs and stems through measuring their dimensions . Shame there is no calibre lists for other measurable parts, i thought motion works parts would be less variable in thier dimensions but thats without considering their tooth shape. Arbors would seem to be a good candidate for a list.
