Hi Everyone

First of all I know nothing about watches, but I would like to get my father’s watch working he passed in 1997 and the battery probably ran out around 2000 as my mum had it so has not run since then.  I tried a new battery and its is not working, I cannot see how to open the back as it has no slot on the edge or it’s a back that unscrews any advance would be much appreciated thank you.

The case back can be removed but you shouldn't need too to replace the battery.

Was there any signs of corrosion from the old battery and what new battery are you using?

Thanks Andy the 301 battery had leaked slightly which I cleaned out carefully.  I used a 301 battery, but it never worked how do you get the back off if I need to as there is nothing to prise off or turn.  See attached photo with battery compartment open.

Sorry I hadn't picked up on the 7019 case part.

It's a while since I've worked on one of these and just now thought it may be a one piece case but seen a gold version with the chrome back so must come off.

I'll try and dig through mine tonight and see if I've got one.

Hi I had an iIWC that some one Blu tacked the batters in and had same proble. But careful attention to the seam with a one sided blade made enough inroads to get the knife in. Just be careful wear a glove .
