Just thought I'd post this. Basically the day dial kept on becoming disengaged when the day changed over. Also had issue with hour hand having no clearance over the day date raised border. Turned out that the dial had become domed over time. This meant that the dial was not holding the day disk down and it was popping up over the sprung finger. Fixed 80% by pushing the dial centre on a domed stake but still not perfectly flat. Used a piece of polythene over the stake to protect the dial. I had to then add a dial washer to hold everything down. Seems ok now with clearance for the hour hand as a bonus. The dial was quite a strange one with integrated spacer.
