I bought a hooted MSA02.004 and it is very very stiff and squeaky to use. To the point that it's tough to tighten around a stem and keep the stem centered.

Should I, can I lubricate it somehow to make it easier?

A bit of grease on the thread that the collar goes over

Agreed, I just use regular lithium grease, not the stuff you use on your watches 🙂

not trying to confuse here but there are different types of pin-vises, the one shown in particular looks to have square shoulders on the inside part that holds, if you tighten it too tight on the round part of the stem it could leave indentions that will wear the main-plate opening, especially on mechanical works, it is great to have for all kinds of stuff though, there is another type and maybe the opposite end of the one shown is this way, and that is that it has a round inside for holding round objects keeping it smooth and not maring the stem, the squeaking and tightness could be remedied by as said above and maybe un-screw end and look to see if any burrs or ruff surface is apparent, some of the new tools are not as refined/finished as the older tools......I hope this helps
