How is this type of jewel held in place/removed?

The tip if a balance pivot is stuck in the jewel hole of this New York Standard pocket watch balance jewel.

I think I need to remove the cap jewel to dislodge the pivot end, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Any advise on this?

I don't know, I was asking before trying anything.

I figured it out.

I was able to press out the jewel and cap stone, thus freeing the pivot end. 

After cleaning / scraping off some mushed over material on the jewel setting, I got everything pressed back in nicely.
