I'm so confused with the winding of Mainsprings!  I have put one back in the barrel of a tiny Tissot 715 but haven't rebuilt the movement yet.  Now I think it may be in backwards or at least wound incorrectly.  I am now working on reassembling a Poljot 2409 movement and having just received my chinese mainspring winders - I was all set to get cracking with it.

My initial query was in relation to the outer bridal which has two tabs on either side of the spring (like a 'T').  One catches on a notch in the outer edge of the bottom of the barrel and the other in a notch in the cap or lid of the barrel. If the bottom one is not notched in, and the top (cap) notch is, it won't snp shut because the spring is sitting proud due to the lower one not seated. So, question one is:

1. For this type of mainspring and barrel, does the lower tab on the bridal need to be seated in the notch in the barrel and the cap notch lined up also?  I ask because this is nigh on impossible to eyeball when fitting the wound spring to get it in the lower notch.

Question two is:

2. Winding the spring is confusing me because when I watch this video (same movement): here although winding in the same direction as I was, the spring is entering from the top, wheres as mine was entering from below - i.e. in the same rotation as the spring itself.  I must be doing something wrong.
