Hello everyone,

I have a question about this tool. Based on the box it looks like it is complete, but I am not seeing the pulley/spindle (like you see on a jacot tool) where you would attach the bow string in order to move it. Am I wrong in thinking that there should be a pulley/spindle and if so how exactly would you get this tool to move back and forth with a wheel on it? I know there is a video on youtube that a guy used the exact same tool and attached it to a motor, but the few I have seen  up for sale look exactly like this tool.

Thanks

Yes matey. If you notice the spindle is reduced at the end to accept a small brass pulley wheel this has the carrier ( looks a bit like a long staple ) attached that turns the balance wheel with the balance staff intact to enable a hole to be drilled into the staff once the broken pivot has been ground off. You could probably get a pulley wheel made or maybe even use a small nylon wheel, i actually ordered some of these nylon pulley wheels from china to fit to my cordless dremel to provide the motor for this exact operation . Here are two that i have, a slightly different design to yours but same principles.
