Hi everyone, I'm trying to order my first replacement mainspring for a Wostok 2603 on Cousins UK and I measured the height and thickness and barrel diameter but I am stuck on the bridle type? Hopefully the picture is good enough for someone to confirm if this a standard bridle or T end or something else.

Hi MJ does the barrel and lid each have a slot for a t end to enter?

strangely enough that question came up sometime in the last week or two it's a double brace. also snipped out an image the mainspring catalog not a lot of choices but if you're lucky maybe one of those springs will fit. Another image of mainspring ends so as you can see the T part and the brace to hold it in place.

Hi, I believe there is a slot in the lid and barrel that the bridle should be held with.

I did see someone else asking about another Wostok model and had a read, funny coincidence. I'm trying to put together my first Cousins order but the abbreviations/pictures didn't make a lot of sense to me. I'm assuming then that I need a 4150-DB as that matches my measurements? Thanks a lot for the input guys and, may I ask, where do you find your list of mainspring? I tried looking on ranfft.de (might be spelt wrong) but there was nothing there.

As far as i know cousins pulled their list from generale ressorts catalogs. If you google that there should be a pdf to download from somewhere.

the reason why cousins uses mainsprings from generale ressorts is there just about the only people in Switzerland left making mainsprings available generically. Slowly everything in Switzerland is turning into made for specific calibers and then the manufacture probably won't supply us the parts. So basically they're the only people making mainsprings.

oh in the starting section of the catalog they have the abbreviations and attaching that page. I don't want to attach the catalog because it's really a huge PDF and it takes up a lot of message board space. Mark should really figure out a way to put the files someplace else where it's a lot cheaper for hosting that rather than eating up message board space from huge files. Not quite sure where I downloaded the catalog.

then of course if you know that you can do a search like at this link and find the catalog in bits and pieces

https://www.cousinsuk.com/document/search?SearchString=GR+Mainsprings

    • I thought this may be "right" forum to post this. After 7 months out in Switzerland I got my Navitimer back from Breitling. I had sent it off since its 20 years old to have a complete overhaul done... Nothing major wrong, but I did notice this seconds sundial skipping thingy.... $1300 later and 7 months later, I notice the 'skips' are still here unless the chronometer is engaged. I would think this is likely the hand binding up and maybe clearance with the dial, but at any rate Im interested as to whether this is something I should be returning the watch to Breitling for and insisting on being fixed. See below - 1 minute or so of regular running and then 1 minute with the chronograph engaged.
    • Hello everyone, I recently received a request for advice on purchasing a vintage watch, a Waltham A-11 ORD. DEPT. I asked if they were aware that these types of watches have radioactive hands and dials... but they had no idea what I was talking about. So, I thought of creating a video that could help recognize them, starting from the distinctive details to using a Geiger counter. I hope you like it and find it useful for those venturing into the world of vintage watches. Bye.
    • I’ve tried everything using both my blue and donut demag units.  I’ve even tried beating them with a steel hammer 🙂   im now trying heating them over gas flame — if that doesn’t work …..
    • The 110v supply could be problem with the blue one. Have you tried moving the piece to demag through different orientations manually as its drawn away ? As Nev quoted the magnetic fields of the demag have to overcome those of the steel.
    • Thank you Marc! I re ran the TG. First I went ahead and checked the balance jewel on the regulator and it was bone dry. I cleaned and oiled it, not without some drama including pinging the capstone and searching my bench with a black light for 30 minutes and finally shone it on my face and looked in the mirror only to find it on my left cheek in my 2 day growth! Back in and on the Grapher we are at 275. However significant drop in DD (234) and CR (190 edited) positions tells me it's time for a complete cleaning and oiling.
