Hello my fellow watch people! I am a budding repairer who is well into his first restoration, which is this Customtime Anno-matic. I, being an amateur, obviously warped the balance spring a little to the point where it would not be able to run at all (I also lost 2 parts!). A couple months later I ordered an entire new EB8810 movement for it. It arrived from Switzerland, and I soon realized it was not center seconds. So there goes my initial plan of movement swapping (I know it's cheating a little, but I didn't want to take any risks). I decided to swap balance wheels and the movement still wouldn't run that much. It would start up for a couple seconds, have a horrific amplitude, then die down. After oiling the train wheels it ran a little better, and there was definitely an improvement in its willingness to run. 2 days later, I'm still figuring out what to do. Now I can pick up the watch, set it back down, and it will run for 15-20 seconds solidly. That's when I decided to take some pictures and make this post. Now, the weirdest thing is that I opened the caseback for movement pics about 20 minutes ago, and the watch ran until I got to this point in writing. I am seeing that sometimes the escape wheel will simply refuse to rotate when the balance spins, and other times it fires right up. I'm wondering why this happens. I'm sure nothing is in the movement, and there shouldn't be much dust or anything, it was all cleaned. Also, an answer to the amplitude problem would be great too. I suppose they could be connected. Anyway, thanks in advance for any answers! (Also don't worry about the crown, that's just a separate problem that I know the answer to.)20230111_191510.thumb.jpg.63a4fc9483c2b68e0564156f77efe1a0.jpg20230111_192017.thumb.jpg.7012bd36857dd6a25e99083e6a3c8370.jpg

Does it run when uncased?     what if you loosen all screws to the train and barrel bridge?  or when you remove the hands.

A process of elimination is likely to reveal a fault.

It runs in all positions, including with the case on and off, but I'll try loosening the bridges. Thank you!
