Broken Inca Spring / ST3600

Recommended Posts

Hello Watchmakers
I am just going through the online course from Mark. I'm almost done, however, when inserting the lower ruby stone, one of the legs of the spring broke off. I can't remove the rest of the spring, it seems to be stuck. This is the clone movement of Eta 9498, Seagull ST3600. Is there any method to remove the spring and put a new one?
I am very grateful for any advice

The chaton holder should be removed as the spring comes into position from the outside of the holder. Have a look here at Kalle's explanation.

Chinese incablocs always had the problem of the shock springs falling off. It might be possible to wiggle the broken spring spring out of its hinge and insert a new one without opening up the jewel chaton.

Slide the spring all the way to one side of the hinge and see if it can be coaxed out of the hinge. Getting a replacement spring might be a problem though.

thank you for the answers. I will try to find spare parts.

Another short question: When I have mounted everything, it is possible that the balance wheel does not move because  the shock rubies are not installed? I can not find the error. Everything works according to the video course except the last step.

The balance should still oscillate without the top ( train side ) shock jewel and cap installed be it a little wobbly. Without the bottom jewels though probably not.
