This Speedmaster has no opening lug slots on the back cover.  Ordinarily I would assume it was snap on back but I see no notch for a case knife either.  How to open safely?

Same thing on my Speedy Reduced.  Used a watchmaker knife (Rolex, hihi) with a thin blade, put it in the gap carefully, caseback snapped off quite easily.

always nice if you would post pictures so we know exactly what you're talking about. Because it may be that this is a watch that goes out through the front you need to remove the crystal.

That first picture makes it look like there's a notch (for case knife) but there's not.  That's a reflection.
