Remove Movement - Lip - Advice Appreciated

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I recently started to research watches and especially watch repair. I couldn't wait to get my hands on some vintage watches just to practice on. I found two mechanical watches with the same movement. I can definitely recommend this to newbies as it’s easy to have a reference while reassembling.

I bought two used watches a few days ago but ran into a little challenge with both of them. Both don’t seem to have a regular closure as I’m having troubles with removing the movement.

LIP watch - automatic

It has a 7525 Durowe movement witch simple screw back. I’m having troubles removing the movement from the case. The dial plate seems too large to remove it from the back. Thus, I figured it should probably be removed from the front. I tried the following technique: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGSPqtxqye4

However, I have not succeeded yet. I did hear the glass pop and now it doesn’t build up any more pressure. Might be a sign that I’m nearly there though… Tried prying off the glass as well, but I’m afraid I’ll mess it up.

It would be great if someone can give me some advice before i damage anything.

Thanks!
