Hi

This is my first attempt at repair so am looking for any advice. The first step in restoring the clock I have is replacing the chime rod. I have found similar rods online but the specs dont match. The thread diameter is 6mm and the length is 18" including the screw mount. I have found matching rods but the main difference is they all have a 6.5mm thread. Am I missing something or am I stuck with something very specific. I would really appreciate a nudge in the right direction please.

Thanks in advance.

Could you show me the movement. The problem you will most likely have is getting the tone correct. I have found in the past it is best to replace the whole lot, that is why I'd like to see the movement because if you are thinking of getting a second had set I can look on ebay and the net to help you.

That is a Westminster chime with strike normal duration 8 days. I would say its German I was hoping to see some sort of I D on the back plate but nothing. What is on the dial if anything.

I have just found this set they are new.

You will need to log into this site to get all the details of sizes I suggest you phone them and see what they have. I would say this is the best place.

Thanks so much oldhippy. I did have a good look and it looks to be a fairly generic clock with no markings. This is a great start. Now I have to work through until I get to the next bit.

Thanks again.
