Hi,

I am calibrating my watches, just to play with my new toy, the timegrapher.

I would like to start studying watch repair, I bought a watch repairer book from hoepli, in a future I would like to try to disassemble a movement, for now I simply calibrate it.

I opened different watches no problem but I noticed that the bottom gaskets in my Seiko SARB033 is not in good conditions and I would like to change it with a new one.
Where can I find a compatible gaskets?

Should I find a compatible gasket or there is a way to buy the genuine seiko one for the SARB033?

What professional watch repairer does in this case? Does they bought genuine gaskets or compatible one?
Where can I buy those gaskets?

Thank you

Hi sblandipodi! Welcome to the forum.

To answer your question, IMHO, you have several choices. You can find the part number for the gasket (I use Boley most of the time) and you will need the case number for this, or you can use generic, available in assortments.

In the latest case, you will need the diameter of the gasket. You can measure it from the case back using a caliber. I particularly use (depending on the type of gasket: flat or round) a tad smaller one to give it some (not too much) tension, just enough to hug the lid so when you close it, it stays in place. All that said, you will need to apply silicone grease...in both cases.

I hope it helps,

Cheers,

I buy mine from hal0eight on ebay.

He is in Australia BUT I get them in 4-5 days to the UK [emoji33]

Mostly for hard to find gaskets for vintage watches but he's expanding. Thinking also of doing repro dials for some of the classics.

Thank you all for the reply but how can I know the case part number or the part number of the gasket?

Thanks

On the caseback.

There's an 8 digit code.

xxxx-xxxx

The first 4 are the movement #

The next 4 are the case number.

Together they can be used here :

boley.de/en/case-parts/

To find codes for the parts you need.

Thanks for the help.

I finded all the parts I need for my SARB033 but I can't find the parts for my SRP307 Monster.

On the bottom of the monster is written: 4R36-01J0, no item on boley.de for this monster, isn't that strange?
