Timex TK711

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I'm newbie in watch repair, just trying to play around while sitting at home due to quarantine :). Had some luck in wining few auctions on eBay for few quids. One of them is Timex TK711. See the picture bellow. It's supposed to be working just battery need replacing, but unfortunately it didn't help to start it. Tried to clean dust and dirt but no luck. I know it's not top quality watch or super expensive but I just like how it looks and the way it feels on the hand and it would be shame just to put it on side or bin it, because it's in decent condition. I haven't got any special equipment to test the faults or smth so thinking maybe to replace movement just can't find the right one. Any help would be great. Thanks

Hi  as the cost of a replacement movement is £5.90 + vat and postage   At Cousins Uk     its probably the best.  You will need some basic tools to do the job, but if you intend to take this up as a hobby invest in some decent tools and tweezers.

  • Thanks 1

    • Not exactly John , just have a read through and give us your thoughts.
    • Yep, i pulled that up as well when i was looking,  there is definitely parts out there if you are prepared to go out and find them.  I watched that video years ago, I'm not so sure about probing the coil like that. If you are going to touch the coil use the side of the probe or at least shape a nice round end to it.
