Train calculations...missing numbers

One thing that always seems to stump me is working out the numbers of teeth for missing wheels and pinions etc, an example question I need to answer is:

An 8-day striking clock has pinions of 8 throughout the striking train, the fly is required to make 56 revolutions for each blow struck. What are the correct numbers for the gathering pallet and warning wheels?

Obviously I know the gathering pallet needs to make 1 full rotation for every 56 of the fly, but I can't seem to get my head around an efficient way to work out the numbers, maybe I'm missing something obvious! Would love to see some methods and which approaches other people use for these dilemmas...

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Thanks in advance.
