I've had a couple of Omega Auto's for service lately with the owners saying " The Day changes starts halfway through the morning but I've got used to it". Then my last Omega  job also went wacky due to too much vertical play on the Day disc location. Had a good search for Omega Technical advice information - no doubt it's around but nothing found. The task is to align the date change to work at the same time that the Day change starts. Trial and error will get you there but it's a pain. Make sure you  check before re-assembly - it's really fun when it's a one piece case. Yes - been there....

So the photo's below show how the set up should look. Note the spring steel hook is about to hit the date ring teeth - the day change wheel pointer is flying about 035 degrees. Should get you sorted.

    • Hello. I wanted to follow up with a few more pics in case it makes sense to anyone. The first image with the tweezers shows where the seconds wheel passes through. This is the only part that will move when wind the watch. This tube is fixed to the plate and is not movable. I can put the cannon pinion in here and it will engage with the barrel wheel directly. Putting the dial side wheels in order still gives me no idea how the minute and hour hands are supposed to move as the only direct contact is still that wheel that is part of the barrel wheel. Any help would be appreciated. 
    • Hi everyone, Not sure if you can assist, but here goes. I am trying to replace a few parts on my father's Rado DiaStar: 129.0266.3The crystal gasket over time has softened and melted inside the case/crystal. Additionally, when I removed the movement one of the electric contacts came off. In the attached image, the small gold fingers is what I am referring to. The electronics and movement are beside it. Where in the movement does it go? Additionally, I would like to find a set of replacement gaskets for the case/crystal and case back. can you assist with that?
    • It's a disease. After you get the donor, you'll want to repair that too.
    • Ha! Definitely not profit. It's more than I appreciate the intricacies and want to challenge myself with something different.  Good idea, you always see lots of quartz watches. It's a cheap way to enter the lottery and maybe find something good. 
    • Actually, I finally did both. I bought a digital caliper that measured 0.9 mm for the screws. And I bought a spare movement, without case, but with both clamps & screws. It will arrive in a few weeks. And, when searching for these screws, I found exactly the same russian watch I am trying to repair, in good condition, and for a bargain price (see photo). I bought it as well, but I will repair the other one anyway. The travel is the journey ! I keep going ...
