Hello everyone!

So I'm new to this forum and first of all, thanks for having me here! I'm also new to vintage watches and recently got a vintage Tissot Visodate with cal. 784-1. The whole automatic works was replaced—probably with one from cal. 2571, 2481 or something similar, judging by the color—but I still feel that it has too much wobble and wear on either the arbor or rotor bushing. The video in the link shows how much rubbing sound the rotor makes and how much wobble it has. I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me whether this is acceptable for such a watch that will be worn daily or not.

Thanks Andy. You're also correct about the rubbing sound, though the seller will take responsibility for a proper fix.

That said, do you think $170 is a good deal for this watch? Other than the automatic works the movement is in good condition, and the seller has promised to fix any issues but probably it won't be the original cal. 784 rotor and automatic assembly in the end.

Also the case has been polished but it was done right and clean. The dial is also very clean, except for the slight fading of the "UT" in Automatic and "E" in Seastar; plus only 4-5 indexes have their original lume dots. The hands on the other hand have a few scratches and their lume is gone.

I think that's a good deal for a nice watch like this.

I once serviced this calibre and ended up buying 3 or 4 rotors until I got one that didn't wobble too much. Quite a tricky one. A little rotor play, however, seems to be normal on this calibre. But yours has clearly too much.

Where are you located?

That's very reassuring to hear, thanks. It really is a gorgeous watch and I really like the curved silver/beige dial, it has so much depth and character.

Well I already sent the video to the seller and they agreed to a fix free of charge. We are located in Iran so getting replacement parts is a bit tricky but donor parts are available, and hopefully they can fix it properly. Here we're reaching the end of the year, and with all the rush I guess it was just an honest mistake while servicing the watch.

It will be either the axel or weight, neither are that expensive.

I just examined both the weight bushing and the axle, and I think the problem is with axel rather than the weight. Am I right? Nonetheless, hopefully the fix works out just fine with good donor parts.

Here are the pictures of the weight bushing and axle under the loupe:

Yes I'd say the axel is most likely and the parts I've shown are new, not donor.

Yes I got that, I'm just saying getting new parts is going to be a last resort for me. Though, those parts from https://urdelar.se/ seem to be stocks in good condition.
