I have acquired a couple of old Rotary watches to practice on which both run and which won’t be a disaster if I mess things up. I have a couple of questions though:

The movements are an AS 1901 and an ETA 2824 (photos attached). Will these be good for practising on? The AS movement has a date function (not quick set) and the ETA movement has a quick set date and is automatic.

Both the movements have the letters MD on the plate - does anyone know what this means?

On the ETA 2824 movement the winding rotor has no screw so it’s not currently attached to the movement. Can I use a screw from the ETA 2824-2 which seems to be readily available; And can anyone tell me what the difference is with the “-2” variations on the movement please? Is it just a newer version of the one I have?

Many thanks, Bill
