Hi,

I am currently working on an old Rado 335.5000.2. The movement looks good, but the crystal and "second" dial looks aweful (see pictures).

Unfortunately the dial is split into 2, one removable mounted on the movement and the second one fixed under the crystal. The crystal looks glued and the second dial looks damages from moisture and maybe glue?!

Do you think it is possible to remove the crystal and dial without damage? I am afraid that I will break the crystal and then refitting the rectangular crystal is out of my current capabilities.

Do you think it is possible that I put the complete casing in the ultrasonic cleaner without damage? If I look at it is seems it cannot look worse afterwards?!

Any other recommendations?

Thanks for your help!

Best regards Michael

My opinion is that the surround and also the case are too far gone to be a viable repair.

What movement is it?

Edit

Being a resin case with metalised coating my first impression was that it's not a genuine Rado.

If you really want to give it a go and it's got a decent movement then if you've got a heated ultrasonic
the chances are the glue holding the crystal would loosen and be able to be popped out.

Hi guys, thanks for the encouraging answer's 😁

The movement is an ETA 2512. It looks fine and should work fine after a good service an minor repair.

I will try the ultrasonic, because the watch has a personal value - so not doing anything is not an option!

Thanks, Michael
