Hello everyone.

I recently purchased a pair of mainspring punching pliers that are capable of driving a hole into both the mainspring, and creating a hook in the barrel wall.

However, I didn't notice until I received it that the screw that punches the hole into the barrel wall doesn't properly line up with the slot meant to accommodate it.  I realized after the fact that there is a large crack in the pliers down by the hinge, which I think is causing the end of the pliers to be off by a few degrees.

What are my options for repairing this?  Or should I just send it back?

It depends where you got it from and how it was listed regarding the return.

If you've got the option to return it then I think that's your best option.

Otherwise it was need stripping and possibly welding back in shape.
