Hi,

I recently acquired some jewels.  They came all jumbled together and I am in the middle of organizing them by size.  Outer diameters ate relatively easy to measure, but I am struggling to measure holes in the jewels.

I do own a AM Scope microscope, so I was thinking of buying a filar eyepiece to help.

There are quite a few on e-bay for not too much money.  The problem is that I do not know how to determine if an eyepiece will fit my microscope (I am researching, but I figure I would ask here as well).  Intuitively I would think that if the magnification is the same (10x) as my other eyepiece and the eyetube diameter is correct, then I should be ok.

Is that right or are there anything else I should worry about.  I realize that the height of the eyepiece might make it difficult to use both eyepieces, but I figure I might use only the filar eyepiece when taking measurements (which kind of invalidates the magnification requirement above).

Is there anything else I should be wary of?

Any other methods I should look into?

thank you

I haven’t used them in anger yet but I and a few others here got 0.01-1.00 mm pin guages from Aliexpress for this. I think that would be easier than a microscope insert.

The great thing about this place is the diversity of backgrounds and experiences everyone brings which gives us ideas of how to accomplish stuff in a variety of ways. 😀
