Hi all, after many years of mechanical watch obsession I’m getting into the deep dark hole of repairing, servicing and general watch fiddling! The online resources are incredible - thanks for everyone’s contributions… I’ve found this forum particularly helpful.

I’m gradually expanding and improving the quality of my tools and working through Mark’s tutorials (and Alex's amazing videos). I’ve been playing with some Chinese 2824 and ST36 movements but am having my first go at servicing a couple of vintage watches which both run but not for long.

My first problem is getting the movement out of this old watch. Front and back hinge open and it seems like a full plate simple mechanism. There is a screw dial side at 12 o’clock which looks like it has cracked the dial and I don’t know whether it was original (I’m thinking ‘not’).

1. Any advice on how I’m meant to remove the movement from case?

2. There’s a push button below the crown which I’m not yet sure what it’s for - time setting?

3. Any ideas about watch/ mvmt identification?

Many thanks for your help.

Steve
