How many different ways can a watch be regulated? I’m new to watch repair and have successfully regulated a Sellita SW200-1 using the fine adjustment screw.

Now whenever I look at watches online I find myself trying to figure out how they can be regulated but sometimes can’t figure it out.

How many different regulation designs are in relatively common use in watches?

Below is an image of an SW200-1 with the regulator arm and the fine adjustment screw.  I understand somewhat how this method works but I don’t understand any others.

Any help would be appreciated.

In particular I’m curious about the Longines L888.4. It doesn’t seem to have a regulator arm, so I wondered how this is regulated and how many other regulation designs exist.

I also wonder how a movement that looks like this is regulated.

The common ones are either a regulator arm with a section that limits the hairspring movement, as your first picture, or adjustable weights on the balance wheel itself.

Screws on the outside or inside of the rim are quite common.

In your last picture, it appears the "screws" move along the slots?

(Moving weight outwards increase the moment of inertia and slows the balance oscillation).

Your watch seems to have survived your first attack, best to suspend all  logistic, strategic, preemptive ..... actions  until this thread concludes.
