Hello everyone

I've just gotten an old LeCoultre Powermatic 481 watch from the bay and the lacquer over the dial has cracked and is completely disintegrating. The movement is running decently, I haven't disassembled it yet for cleaning but I don't expect any major issues since it seems to be running fine. I'd like to just clean and oil the movement and replace the dial but the problem is that I can't find a black dial for it so far. I've ordered a white one that's in a better state and if that ends up being the only option I'll replace it with that but I'd much prefer to keep the black one.

So since this dial is a write-off anyway, I figure I might as well try to repaint it. I've not done any dial restoration work at all before so I'm definitely not qualified. What are some of the big issues I'll be facing?

My plan is to strip off the lacquer and paint, do some surface preparation and then try to mask off the 12 and the indexes. Probably spray painting the dial, manually clean up the edges around the indexes and then a lacquer over that. Hopefully something more modern and UV stable than the stuff that's falling off the dial now.
I'd be grateful for any advice and even more grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of a replacement dial.
