A curious problem with an Omega 1345!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I was servicing a Omega 1345 recently, which was *just* caught in time with respect to a battery bleed. After an initial clean, lube etc. it was reassembled and was working, but only ticking intermittently. The reason for this was poor connectivity between the battery lug and the counter chip.

I noticed at that point that the track between the lug it the counter chip was broken, so (somewhat clumsily) bridged the gap with a piece of insulated wire.

The odd thing now is that continuity is good between the battery lug and the counter chip, but instead of driving the stepper in second intervals, it is just spinning around constantly. I wonder if the soldering might have damaged the counter?

Am I missing something silly? It has me stumped at the moment!

Thanks for any advice you might have!
