Hello, I am having an issues with a PUW 1663s movement. The movement will run, but will sporadically stop, sometimes it runs for a couple of minutes, other times only a couple of seconds. What I have narrowed this down to is the 3rd wheel. My initial trouble shooting showed significant vertical movement it he wheel under no power, so the jewels were set wrong. I have successfully adjusted this so the shake is lower but this was apparently not the root cause. Now I notice that when the watch stops, if I place an oiler or similar on the bottom pivot (movement side) that the watch kicks up and runs great. As soon as I remove the oiler from the pivot it will stop quickly or after a few seconds/minutes of running. I can see the pivot move slightly in the jewel when I apply the oiler to the pivot. Inspecting the pivot does not show any mushrooming and the pivot doesnt look worn under the microscope.

I have checked the center wheel and there is a little wiggle with the center hole perhaps being a little worn, so I can close that up to see if that helps, perhaps if it wiggles it binds up the 3rd wheel? The seconds wheel looks to be fine from all my inspection. I am wondering if anyone has any other suggestions?

I will say that when the watch does run, the timgrapher shows a beat rate error of 0.3 ms and an amplitude of about 285 degrees on a partial wind, so power does go thorough the train, but something is not right with the 3rd wheel or its interaction with center and/or seconds wheel. I could order a new wheel, but if the issue may lie somewhere else I would like to rule that out before ordering the part, particularly if the wheel itself is not the specific issue and just a red herring.

Thank you in advance for any advise or suggestions.
