Hi, first post as new to tinkering.

I have 2 watches, both chronograph, and in both cases after replacing the battery the watch does not run but the chronograph works. This suggests it's not a battery or contact problem. The stem does move the date and hands as normal.

One is Rotary Aquaspeed with Seiko VD53B movement. I tried shorting the AC to the battery and the main spring clip (right name?),as recommended in several online PDF movement manuals and forums, to no avail. This watch was in current use.

The other is a Quantième with a Miyota OS10 movement. This has less online info than the VD53x series, and I can't find an AC terminal to try a reset. This has sat unused in a drawer for 10yrs+ and I was looking to pass it to my son.

Am I doing something wrong to have 2 fail on battery change. I just remove and replace, moving retaining spring out of way in process. Is there some reset trick I've missed? I can't see how I could have dislodged any gears, the movements have not been removed from the cases (yet).

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions!
