Why do you need to change the jewels ? I'll give you this Murks , you certainly have ambition for a beginner.

As always someone will likely know better than me hut anyway I’ll try. I think this is a relatively newish ETA movement so a fair chance it would use standard Seitz jewels, if not you would need to find a jewel with the correct hole size for the pivot and an od slightly larger than the jewel hole in the plate then ream the hole to take the new jewel.

Which jewel? The balance jewels should be convex with olive hole, the other jewels can be flat with cylindrical hole. But you can also use convex where flat jewels go- it's actually nicer. And olive holes are always nicer (there are flat jewels with olive holes too). Seitz (Bergeon) has cut way back on the sizes they provide, and suppliers seem to be running low on old stock.

Hi nick the jewel is actually for the pallet hole jewel a find one on my spare parts but I'm not sure if is going to fit it feels a bit stiff when putting it in to the hole should a open the hole a little and thanks for your advice you mean I can actually use the convex that goes on balance jewel to the cylindecal that goes on the pallet jewel?

    • Hi can someone tell me where a can buy this chart for breguet hairspring frequency?
    • OK Rich, may be You are just a little bit more worried than really needed. Who am I to say, jus a newbie here but... Such a big forum will not collapse in any case, exept if the people loose their interest to participate. If something happens to the owner,  then senior members will be able to handle the forum. Let me show an example where one of the moderators of the russian forum (thow He was not russian), a man of great knowlage abd big heart, passed away in 2023. Thow His personal site is still working, the russians coppied the whole site to safe place here. I mean, all depends on the people and if they need to do something, they will find the way. Actually, the forum is place where people can meet and share. As a final measure, people can share their phone numbers and use Viber to comunicate, at least people who are interested to keep connection between each other.
    • Since I couldn't slow the machine down enough for my liking, I started off slowly with a higher grit.  I began (very lightly) with 1000 grit paper: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DTJBND1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 Finished with 3000 grit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DTFSMT1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 Afterwards I went on to polish with traditional methods using felt & cotton wheels, with different grades of Dialux. Hope this helps.
    • Ok so there is barely any response happening . After this last attempt i think I'm just going to give up on it because very few seem genuinely interested or even bothered or worried what may happen in the future. ( if someone can set me straight I'd love to hear it ) I would think anyone into watches has heard of Roland Ranfft, how they grew to love and depend upon his site for detailed information. And not just that, he also had a view about Ebay and everyone that visited Roland's site knew exactly what he thought about Ebay, Roland's site also had a secondhand watch sale side to it.  If anyone here could have done anything to preserve his site and keep it exactly the way it was.........Would you have done something to make that happen ?  Its been pointed out to me but not in so many words  that I'm probably coming across as an insensitive p.rick, truly I'm sorry about that, i say it as it is but no malice is intended and yes clearly I'm putting my forum membership on the line here. I'll happily shut up about it now, I've done all i can.
    • Thank you so much for posting this!  Although this movement is serviceable, there are no service notes that I've been able to find.  This is a great alternative!
