I am considering an auto oiler for lubricating jewels.  I have a couple of questions:

  1. What is the better option - if not Bergeon?
  2. What is the optimal size (dia)?

Hi

I went with the smallest size and went with the Chinese version, by all means go for the Bergeon but there is no difference between them, other than price even the parts are fully interchangeable.

Never had any issues using it either.

Hi there, I have a Chinese set, but on opening the red one I was fighting with the plastic and dropped it, and it landed on the top shearing off the tube that the needle slides inside... never even got to use it once 😭

I replaced it, but mistakenly ordered a different brand (at +/- the same price) which didn't work, the needle moved, but didn't carry any oil, so I re-ordered, but was more careful to get the first brand and I am happy to report that it works a treat. The brand that works (all 3 types) in my experience is the ones with the YONGJIU logo on the side, link here, as in the picture below:

FYI I use them as below and they all seem to work well.

  • Black = Cap jewel oiling (Balance) with 9010
  • Green = general oiling with 9010
  • Red = general oiling with HP1300

Hope this helps

As a side note, I'm not sure what the o-ring on the outside under the button is all about... they seem to work the same with and without it...can anyone enlighten me?
