Hi All

A while back I bought a Westclox Boyproof pocket watch which I disassembled and cleaned.  On disassembly I discovered that the mainspring barrel had split at the point where the spring hooks on.  Fast forward about 4 or 5 weeks and the only donor movement I could find (named Boyproof from other models) has arrived.  Thankfully the mainspring barrel is in great condition - however there was no spring!  So... the spring from the original movement is fine, but at this stage I don't have mainspring winders.  The spring is the older single coil type (not s-type) and I can't for the life of me figure out the best way of getting it in the barrel - without a winder.

How would you do it?
