Trying the DIYwatchClub thing...

Recommended Posts

Figured this would be a good beginner step into watch making. Ordered a build kit from them (GMT version). I have had bad luck from the start. NH34A movement in the kit arrived broken. I am still trying to negotiate a replacement for the movement. They seem to be shining me on a bit, but we will see what happens. In the mean time, I have sourced a replacement movement myself which arrived yesterday. I happily proceeded to start my build and discovered that I misplaced, or more likely a accidentally through out the watch hands! Totally my fault that one, but now I am hold again and will resume once the replacement hands I sourced arrive. I will use this thread to post updates on this project - here is where I am at:

I had a quick look at the DIY watch Club thing and its very expensive.... Think you could achieve the same for a fraction of the price buying a movement and watch kit from Ali Express or the Bay.

You are absolutely correct. It is targeted to an audience that doesn't know any better and just beginning my journey, that demographic described me. I now know better, so I not only gained technical experience, but also practical. I am sure there are many more lessons left to learn.
