Hi Richard auto oilers make it easier to deposit a small amount of oil on/in the jewel. I personally use the standard oilers and if I want to get it into a capped jewel use a diabetic needle, being hollow it picks up oil and deposits it through capilliary action into the jewel, works for me but I am sure there will be others whose opinion differs. Being a tight Yorkshireman I dont spend time and money on things I dont really need.
