Cylinder hairspring

Not a job I usually do, it's a cylinder platform that has been repaired by some one else, ie the hairspring has been replaced at some point.
how do I know this, well the give away is that it was upside down, so once I done that I find it's far too strong for it, so it gains hours in a day, so as there's nothing to loose and I haven't got any cylinder hairsprings lying around, it was out with the alum.
will see how it goes in the next 24 hours, can't make it any worse I suppose.

Excuse the beginners question but what are you trying to achieve with the Alum ?  Are you just trying to make it thinner.

I often miss the obvious so excuse the question if I am being the usual stupid.
