Mainspring barrel

Hello again,

I’m working on an AS1280 and the barrel rotates when I try to wind the watch.  Could anybody let me know why this might be and what I can do about it?  Thanks for your time, J.

Is it just the barrel rotating on its own or are the rest of the wheels moving as well ?

Barrel on its own, it's not meshing with the second wheel.

Rest of the wheels as well, there is an issue with the escape side of the movement.

Remember I am a beginner so probably missed something obvious

Hi  If all the train wheels move as well  its probably an escapement problem, broken pallet and or escape wheel. if its just the barrel that spins  as per Paul80's description.
