Date Wheel Will Not Advance

So today's conundrum is a brand spanking new VD53B quartz chronograph movement. It will change the date if I am in the "Set the date" position but will not advance when I cycle the hands 24 hours. The movement holder , I had noticed , was sort of depressing the bottom pusher position so I removed the holder and it is still misbehaving.

 

Any feed back as always is appreciated

Plastic wheels - could be a tooth is damaged.

 

I do not recommend taking these apart so the best solution would be to return it for exchange.
