Dear friends,

Since I consider this small seconds hand too thick compared to the other hands, I would like to replace it for a thinner hand but haven’t found where to find a BLUE one online. This is a Seagull ST17 movement. Any help?

Ps. Picture makes no justice to the real world sense of no proportional thickness.

Various suppliers should have subsecond / subsidiary hands that could suit e.g. here's a selection from Cousins: https://www.cousinsuk.com/product/subsidiary-dial-by-size

I guess it really depends how much this is bothering you. The hand in your stock pic looks reasonable.

You could get creative and obtain some paint to colour match the blue. If you then took the existing hand and with a fine file removed a small amount of metal from each side of the hand to thin it you'd get the proportions you wanted. Carefully painting with the blue would cover the now exposed bare metal (which would be barely noticeable anyway due to the hand being so thin). BUT this is not without risk unless you're very careful and would this own-amendment still bother you? Perhaps this is one where you wear the watch for a few weeks and judge just how irksome the hand is.

Hello!

I took a look at cousinsuk but there’s no blue.
Your idea is really good. As I’m not confident with this kind of hand manipulation and sanding, I will have my watchmaker to do this for me.

Thank you very much!

Hi @SergioRJ- there were Blue Steel versions hidden away under that link. But if you're giving this to your watchmaker he/she can make a consideration of what's best to discuss with you.

It's a nice looking watch btw. Good luck! 🙂
