I have a 1877 Waltham railroad pocket watch sz 18, the watch runs for maybe about 4-5 hours but then stops, so I took it apart and I notice one of the teeth on the ratchet wheel has broken off. Could this be the problem? If so, where can I find a replace part? Everything else inside the watch seems to be ok.

Hello! So after tinkering with watches I thought I gave it a try with a clock. How hard can it be ? First of all you don't need magnifiers Actually you need to take a step back to see the entire thing. Basic questions, if I may: what do you use to oil these beasts? How do you take out and put back the mainspring? Some photos: Thank you, Bogdan

Hello! New to this forum and this is first post I am doing a service of an AS 2063 movement and hit a little snag regarding the mainspring barrel. I have never been able to open these types of barrels gracefully, always leaving marks which annoys me, so i thought to ask people with more experience than me So what is the secret to open these? I want to open it to replace the spring and clean it, seem like the previous owner thought it could be repaired with WD40 , literally the whole watch is soaked in it!
