I was dismantling the seagull st3620 and when I came to remove the barrel bridge it would not come off. After puzzling over this for a while Idecided to remove the keyless works so the screw could be unscrewed from the setting lever. After doing this I was able to lift the barrel bridge complete with setting lever screw. I tried to remove the screw from the bridge but it is almost like it is intentionally captured in the bridge.

Is that something that could have been done intentionally by the manufacturer to prevent forgetting to put it the setting lever screw when replacing the bridge? It’s not like any of the videos I’ve watched of this movement being disassembled. It’s not a problem and everything works fine when reassembled.

thanks,

Bill

Hi, it should not be fixed in the barrel bridge, it could be that the slot of the screw has been opened a bit or a small bur from the screw-driver blade causing it to stay in-place, try some light pressure with pegwood or tooth pick to push it through .....

Thanks I'll give it another go but I did try to push it out and it wasn't shifting. I'll have a really close look as well, as I guess it's quite possible that I've created a burr with the screwdriver. Thanks.

@CYCLOPS Thanks for the encouragement. I got the screw out but I really had to use a fair bit of force - I had indeed opened the screw out with my somewhat new to all this screwdriver technique!

Maybe the screw was soft due to it being on a cheap movement.

You make a good point - that’s much more likely than any poor technique on my part! 😃
