I know this is probably far fetch, but does anyone know the tailstock taper of a Moseley lathe? Last night I spend about an hour setting the taper slide on my Taig to match it as best as I could, and I've gotten close, but not exact. If not, I will probably end up making a collet spindle for my tailstock. I'm just running out of stock to try to match the taper. I think I'm at 3°-64", but the Taig has no reference marks on the cross slide so, its all eyeballed. I've also set up a dial indicator on the cross slide and measured it that way, but I'm about 0.015MM out of square, and the inside of the taper isn't very smooth at this point since its been heavily used, so its hard to get a good reading. If all else fails, ill set up a tool grinding post and make a few spindles, so if you need one, reach out to me.

Thanks in advanced

Lathes UK have a huge database,  there are a couple of Moseley lathes listed there , you might pick up some info.

Do any of the sizes & angles in this page make sense with the measured taper?

More info here:

I think some are close, but from my research, each lathe maker had their own taper. So to combat this, I decided to buy a bunch of O1 tool steel rod and will make my own. That way I can set the taper to a known degree, and make quite a few spindles that I can make attachments for. Ill also be making a bunch of dead centers and drill sockets. Setting a taper in a cross slide is a pain. I wish my Taig lathe had a rotating headstock like the Sherline, but i didnt want to pay Sherline prices.

Ill give a little update to this as well. The taper for a Moseley tailstock spindle is around 1.7 degrees. It took a lot of fiddling and testing with a dial indicator, but I got it set to accept some brass sockets.
