replacement of crystal with gasket

Recommended Posts

Trying to replace a crystal in a case that has a gasket. Original crystal diameter measured at 32.93 mm. I purchased one at 33.00 mm diameter. When I tried to press it in, it went in crooked and deformed the gasket. On close inspection the original crystal had a slight bevel on both surfaces. The one I purchased only had a bevel on one surface. Getting ready to order new gasket and one size smaller crystal. Assuming beveled surface goes toward gasket.

Any suggestions on how to install crystal with gasket will be appreciated.

Thanks , Dave

Kalanag,

Thanks for the reply. On closer examination of the gasket I do see the bevel. Looking at the deformation I caused I had the gasket in up-side down. Its amazing what you can see with a 10 power loupe when you look for it.

Great video on measuring crystal and gasket. Essinger is where I get my parts.

Regards, Dave
