Saw someone on a Youtube video put little piece of electical tape on a movement. One was to keep a rotor from moving and then another piece for some thing else. Purportedly he was going to clean it up with Radical.

Thoughts.

Hello Gunpilot!  And welcome!  So...he stuck electrical tape...to the rotor?  Like, the oscillating weight of an automatic watch?  Could you maybe post a link to the video. This I gotta see.

I'd have dig out a small stainless steel watch part, and stick electrical tape to it and see if Rodico would get the adhesive residue off. Perhaps it can. If I understand the principle of this procedure, and the implementation, correctly then it isn't exactly a *terrible* idea.  Kinda crude, maybe.  Unless he is a beginner himself, and/or has a movement where removal is a difficult multi-step process, I would just remove the rotor.  I think that's what most of us do.  And the vast majority of rotors are pretty easy to take off.

I am glad to see you are reaching out to us here.  With some YouTube videos, there is no guarantee the host is an expert.  There's a lot of "This is how *I* do it" type stuff.  If you see something that looks sketchy or suspect,  continue to post and ask us, like you're doing now. That said, there is some good information on YouTube also.  A few of us have posted there, and we know a few other trusted videos as well.  Caveat video.
