There are two good reasons. One being the screwdriver slipping and causing damage, and Two the possibility of breaking the screw head off. And couple that with the fact that that is not what it is designed to do. Use the winding stem !. -

Hi. Is this @ two or three train clock, the warning wheel makes a quarter turn when going into warning at approx five to the hour and being stopped by the long lever.when the long lever is lifted to the high position by the center cam the warning wheel is released for thr strike to take place. -

Not all drum clocks are the same, bear that in mind when looking for a replacement. Measure the distance between the plates for reference. It is possible to re pivot the fly by drilling the end and inserting anew one. The end must be annealed before drilling as it is hard. -
To my eye @nevenbekriev the spring looks like it's in a single plane now. The previous photos were difficult to interpret in that sense. Can you point out where?

A good material to protect the crown is vinyl flooring. I got some free samples from my local supply store. They are only a couple of inches wide, and are hard enough to take the pressure of pressing in gaskets during disassembly, as well as flattening the washer during assembly. It has a slight amount of give and is soft enough to not scratch or deform the crown when flattening the washer.
