You measure the diameter of the barrel and it's inside height.

The main spring is snapped! 😪 Not sure how to go about finding a replacement, is by length? Any idea how to measure the length of the coil? The inside diameter of the barrel is 16.9mm, the spring is 2.5mm wide and 0.2mm thick. Obviously, being a fusee it has no return like modern springs, its just a straight coil with a hole on either end.

The bike is now all finished although I will replace the brake leavers when I can find some more in leeping with the age of the bike. I took it for a short test ride tonight and the Sturmey Archer hub is changing gears nicely and no slipping when riding up hill. I'll take it for a longer ride this weekend.

There is also the possibility that it would require the glass to be removed using a glass pump as is the case with monocoque cases. -

The fact that this has a split stem would lead one to think it was in deed a front loader. The watch was based on the AS 1687/1688 according to Ranfft but no tech sheets for that caliber has as yet been found. Dates from around 1960. Looking at the picture of the front of the watch there looks to be no provision for removing the bezel, so with that in mind a close inspection of the sides of the watch for the indent or marks from a previous entry
