Hi all,  I recently aquired this seiko racing chronometer, have not seen one like it on internet or seiko site, whish raises doubt as to it's genuineness. Anybody seen one? Did seiko make racing chronometeres.

Seiko probably added such complications as chronometers on watches more than any other watchmaker. So wouldn,t have rivaled it's own product by making racing chronometers.

Yes I realize I'm splitting hairs here but I object to the word chronometer. Classically I think of a chronometer as a ships clock with a Detent escapement. Then a course today they refer to precision timekeeping watches as chronometers.

Then the pictures online for the Seiko Stopwatch 88-5021 All look identical to yours with an exception?  The exception is yours looks absolutely brand-new and the ones online do not. Then you even have the tag which is nice.

Then because I like seeing naked movements I found you video of the inside

That's a very nice stopwatch that you have acquired Joe.  It should be described as a chronograph not a chronometer.

I see it also adds up the second, right a chronograph. You forgot to comment on genuineness. My web access is limited, So askng the fellow forumers seemed best option. Thanks for your response and then correction you made.
