Rolex Athlete - Info Request

Now and than I get in some piece to sell, this week I was lucky to get a nice vintage Rolex.  It is missing some parts that were identified to me but, what I don't know is the cal or reference number.

Also the year made.  I tied to look at the movement and besides the makes names and other such lettering I see no numbers.  There are three stars or that is what I think they are.

Can anyone help with more info?

It’s a ref 4127, early bubbleback (pre-Oyster)... I’d hazard a guess and say, early 1940s.

I have a book downstairs with drawings/photos of the older calibers. If it was handy I’d identify it for you. 

VRF is a good idea. Probably get any parts you need through them as well.
