Timex Model 276702572 - Before and After

Just finished up this repair, a classic 1972 model in need of much TLC.

Here is the before  and After, followed by how I got there.

 

and this is how I got there -  pop the case off and unscrew the set lever screw about 2.5 turns.

out comes the movement and the tear down begins. While doing so I see the crystal will have to be replaced as well as the crown\stem.

I also spot an oil spill on the date ring, this means someone has been in here before and did not know what they were doing.

So off we go for the cleaning and rebuild.  Finished watch looks and runs great.

Cleaned, oiled, missing and or worn parts replaced.

You really did an awesome job.
I wonder if the bezel was missing a first and if yes where you sourced it.
Having some Kelton watches (Timex's French sisterwatches) I have repaired some of those bezels but when they're lost it's difficult to find one.

Yes, finding NOS Timex bezels is not easy and I have only come across them a few times.  the last coming from a large lot of parts from a New England supply house that had closed down.  It took me 3 months to organize and box up the inventory of hundreds of parts envelopes.

This bezel ring came from another watch and had a crack just to the left of 12.  I was able to use some super glue to get it to hold together.

Now you say that ... I can see the superglue near the 12th.
I have found a way to repair those plastic bezel "from the down side" so that they can snap on the watch rehaut and still be rotatable (seems important to me though that's useless cause those watches are NOT divers).
I have already posted my my method on a French watch forum but I'll write tutorial in English and post it here as soon as I can.
So if you ever fell on one of those bezels broken on 2, 3 or even 4 parts please ring me cause I need 2 of those bezels to finish my last Kelton's.

The bezel does rotate very easily and I have now cleaned up the glue on the front.    Yes, please present your method pn how to repair the bezels.  It would be interesting to see how others go about such a task.
