Help finding a replacement movement for a Lorus novelty watch

Hello everyone. Sorry if this is a waste of your skill, but if you could please help me I would greatly appreciate it.

I bought a fun Lorus Kermit The Frog watch. Its a Lorus from 1994. I took it to get a new strap and battery (I had some in the mail but I thought what the hell, support local), and the jeweler informed me that it wouldnt run. The battery leaked inside. He cleaned what he could, and seemed bummed he couldnt get it going. Though he mentioned the movement is replaceable which I didnt know.

Here's the tricky part. It says on the back of the watch and the movement itself that it is a V531-7A00. After a bunch of searching I understand that Hattori makes the replacements for these things. However, I CANNOT find a replacement V531. I've found V532, but not V531.

Before anyone suggests repairs or maintenance, I'll let you know that ship has sailed. After the jeweler declared it dead, I took it as an opportunity to try to fix it myself (having an interest in watches and a love of tinkering), and its assuredly more dead than ever before.

Does anyone know a good place to search for this movement? Or do you know if there is another movement that will work in this watch as well?

Thanks very much.

Sorry I couldnt figure out how to edit my original post with additional information.

What I'm finding out really strange about this whole thing is how difficult it is to find any information about this movement. For instance, on the Lorus website, they dont even list it on this battery chart. http://www.loruswatches.com/Battery

In my head there's two possibilties. One of which is that they only produced it for a very limited time and dont even have any documentation on it. The second is that it was just completely replaced by another movement. I think you can guess which one I'm hoping for.

According to this http://www.labanda.com.au/catalogues/labanda-mc-web.pdf, the V531 movement was also sold under the name VP31 (probably for Pulsar). There is one of those on eBay in Spain, or also here http://www.smithsupplyhouse.com/vp31.html

Thank you so much! Hahaha, boy have I been inside a hell of a google rabbit-hole. So I took a closer look at the pictures in the link, and also the ebay listings. Every one of the pictures is stamped with "Shiojiri VP31A". Now on this website http://www.boley.de/en/caliber/watchmovements/shiojiri/12351 it mentions "Hattory-Pulsar Y121 A". Could that mean that model is also an equivalent? I'm trying my hardest to source the movement in Canada to avoid getting annihilated on shipping costs. And maybe somewhere down the line a person with a goofy broken watch will thank me for all of this hahahaha

Not sure why Y121 is shown there - its a completely different size and shape.

With your new constraints, the best I think you’ll do is this https://www.somalcanada.com/product/1515~yr67-yr67.html

YR67 is the crrent equivalent Seiko movement. It is only 3.05mm thick instead of 3.3, so you may have to pack it a little, but the diameter is the same and so are the hand sizes. I can’t tell if the dial feet will line up, but you will be able to tell from pictures on line. The stem size is tap 10.

This will cost you very little to try and then you could resort to the ebay option if necessary.

    • In the meantime whilst awaiting a better plan, please drop me a quick hello on my email.
    • I looked at it like this, I've built a lot of stuff in my time, building structures and furniture, those are my creations and they will still be here way way after I'm gone. Traditional watchmakers felt the need to pass their knowledge on, ideas that they created . I assume with them as it is with me, leaving their mark on the earth, a way of being remembered. This creation of Mark's has brought thousands of people together to pass their knowledge around,  ideas that will continue to be used for lifetimes. Ideas that should continue to be procured. If for whatever reason the forum ceased to exist, not quite like Ranfft's, that didn't disappear but much less usable. Then that is sad, such a massive loss of communication between good people and a wealth of knowledge lost. There should be something in place for when that happens which could be next week, next year or in 10 years. Might not be a topical subject for a lot of folk or boardering on controversy, i did say i talk about stuff other people dont. But if you dont talk about it and something happens then you've lost it and you ain't gonna fix it .
    • I've remained silent on this thread, and at the risk of upsetting everyone, the thing that worries me the most the the apparent absence of Mark. The moderators do a great job and the members also pitch in, and the site seems to run itself, but it is a concern for the future of this forum when the owner is absent for all intents and purposes. Like many of the comments above I would hate to log in one day and things be closed down as I rely on this site for ideas and knowledge and also cheer me up. maybe the Moderators could reach out to him, assuming he does not read this thread, and express our concerns and let us know the plans going forward? some kind of WRT ark
    • That was the exact reason for me starting this thread watchie. Still we haven't worked out how the regulars are going to hook up if it goes tits up. I honestly think something should be arranged to stay in contact, we all help each other so much.
    • Yeah ive watched that a few times before,  i couldnt find my old school dividers to scribe it up 😅 Yep thats the guy i bought a roll from . Thanks Nicklesilver that answers that perfectly and more or less what i thought an experiment over time would prove . The jumper arm is quite thick along its length, i left it that way intentionally, i thought the original was probably very thin, i didnt see that it was already missing. Setting isn't particularly stiff as such just positive, i still need to take it out and polish where it mates with the stem release.
