Says 1895 in the title and then circa 1900 to  1910 in the description.

Mass produced stamped out hands, not a taper pin to be seen anywhere on the clock, no leather pad on the striking hammer

I'm guessing at the oldest late 1960s 1970s.

I've seen that diamond logo on clocks before but cant remember where.

If I came across it for $50 I might be tempted, but not for their asking price.

I'm no longer surprised at the over priced crap on Ebay, I do find it very annoying that what this seller is doing is actually fraud he is miss representing a very poor quality clock and selling it as antique, it's criminal and I would suspect he is fully aware of that.

I bought a fantastic four glass ormolu and onyx french clock not long ago from around 1900 for a quarter of that price in excellent condition, only the uninformed would buy the clock he's peddling.

It is guaranteed not a reproduction, and is circa 1900-1910

 

Lies. This is a modern repro and I expect it to be made in China. You have been reported to ebay for freud. It is a reproduction and is never circa 1900-1910.

 

I'm a horologist who specialised in high quality antique clocks with around 30 years experience in repairing and restoring.

Sir, it is not a reproduction, and you are barking up the wrong tree. I have been selling clocks for over 40 years, specializing in chinese antique clocks specifically.  I own a company in china making reproduction fusee clocks and other famous english and french clocks.  I have owned more antique clocks than you will ever think of, and had the largest collection of Chinese antique clocks in the world outside of the Forbidden City in Beijing.  It is antique and made in Japan, not china, and a wonderful clock. Not champleve, and not cloisonne, but a beautiful antique clock.  I suggest that you do research yourself before you make such inaccurate accusations, a clear case for a libel suit.  Keep your thought to yourself until you learn what you are talking about.  You are officially blocked from bidding on anything offered for sale from ProClocks from this day forward.   A copy of this note has been submitted to ebay.  Have a good day, now I highly recommend you start your studies before you put horologist behind your name.

Hmm there are some interesting things in the public domain on the web about Robert Crowder and proclocks, he has been warned in the past by the Nawcc to alter his conduct regarding selling repo clock's and having less than accurate descriptions, there is also a story that he had a table at a selling meet run by the Nawcc his table collapsed sending all his ware's crashing to the ground and smashing them, the rest of the sellers all stood up clapped and cheered.

He told me that clock was made in Japan. Here is one of the many replies he sent me. So have a good laugh.

The logo appears to be slightly different, the ones on the electric clock either has rays coming off the top of it, or writing, its hard to tell in the photo, whilst the other one has Trade Mark written on the sides of the diamond, so it may not be the same brand, not that I'm saying I believe the seller that it is over 100 years old.

After the discussion it may have been removed from sale or it may have been sold to a satisfied customer; who knows.  I have several clocks, one in particular is a regulator made in 1879 in regular use. I have a German pendulum clock in the loft. Will get it down soon,  it was my father in laws and he repaired the mainspring, I believe it works OK. I will give it a clean and oil and we will see. More later. From ECODEC.

      Been there. Worn that Tshirt.  'ping'. Hands and knees. Nothing. Nada. 20 minutes? Ha! I found it 7 month later. How? Well, after advice from a member, I invested in a £4 UV light torch.  Hands and knees looking for a 'ping' from a Sekonda, found them both within 30 seconds. UV makes the jewel shine. easy peasy. Could have taken longer. Just lucky on the location of the search. Hope this helps.

      Thanks Dell. I thought about silver soldering. Have never done it but would like to give it a go. Do you think to put flux on the butted joint then run the solder in or to maybe brace it with a piece of scrap spring steel?

      Never and others. Yes, like you I do spend a fair amount of time reading the contents of this forum. I find it better that any other. Clear, lucid, no Prima Donas, and most of all an easy access without adverts. All thanks to Mark. God bless you mate. You give so much to many of us. What if? No Mark? Hypothetically. A forum. I did run a forum for a few years. Really enjoyed it, but became so engrossed that it did affect my health. I gave to to others to run. Not been back. It was very successful and rivalled a number of large paying sites. No adverts, no others but me. I did ask and listen to members comments and it worked well.    Costs Having a domain name, £10 annually.  Register the site with a forum company, free. Build the site using the forum company guide lines, free. It looked and ran almost the same a Mark's. All the same facilities. The cost was only £5 per month, but counted visits (views). If I recall, it was that price for 5,000 views. Each extra 5,000 views increased the price by £2 per month. Success was my own personal undoing. From £5 per month initially, it rose to £60 a month and looked like increasing. This was 10 years ago. I could not afford that, and asked it anyone would like to take over and someone did. I would assume that this is the price that Mark is funding for us all. His return is our continued comments on the internet about his course, and the fact that many of the big names on YouTube mention him as their Tutor. Those of us who have done, and are still using, his course, benefit. In comparison to other courses, I can't believe how cheap it is, and the value is exceptional. It is the structure that gives the value. Long may Mark reign. Ross

      Hi all, total newbie to watchmaking and I've had a bit of a mishap. Just completing level 2 and was doing ok, but I was just on the last part of the reassembly of my ST3620 when the balance end stone shot across the room, just as I was trying to see if I had put the correct amount of oil between it and the balance end, aarrrgh! Been on my hands and knees combing the carpet for 20mins looking for it but to no avail. Does anybody know where I can get a replacement from and what to look for please?? Thanks.
